Charlotte, Caroline du Nord (AP) – The Nascar Corey Lajoie driver will organize this year a limited program of Cup Series with Rick Ware Racing and will also be an analyst for the Amazon Prime Video part of the Cup Series calendar.
Lajoie will lead the Ford Mustang n ° 01 for Ware while working on the construction of his Stacking Pennies Performance brand. RWR has not announced the number of races in which Lajoie will participate in the announcement on Monday, but the 33 -year -old will try to qualify for the Daytona 500 opening of the season next month.
Lajoie’s number 01 has no charter, so he will have to win one of the four free places in the Daytona 500 peloton either by time trials or by his qualification race. His Ford will be sponsored by Duramax and Take 5 Oil Change.
“Rick Ware is someone who makes things happen. He’s a great guy who was a generous friend by helping me take off this vision of Stacking Pennies Performance, “said Lajoie. “It allowed me to put the number 01 on his Ford Mustang, based on the brand to which fans have linked, supported and applauded in recent years.”
The number 01 is supposed to represent the concept “Stacking Pennies” that Lajoie has developed around the idea that small victories lead to greater success. His podcast Stacking Pennies is one of the most popular in Nascar.
It will also make a transition to the broadcast stand when Prime Video begins its Nascar race for five races in May with the Coca-Cola 600 at the Charlotte Motor Speedway.
“In many ways, my driver career was more fruitful than I could never have imagined, but I lose sleep by having the feeling of never having reached my full potential behind the wheel,” said Lajoie . “The quest to improve and improve others around me has never been so important as it is currently.
“My presence on the track will be different from that of previous years and this will bring a new series of challenges, but my heart is determined to have a lasting impact on the sport and the communities that Nascar reaches.”
Lajoie is the son of the veteran of Nascar Randy Lajoie, double champion of the Xfinity series who won 15 races in 19 years and 350 departures. Randy Lajoie also made 44 departures in Cup Series.
Corey Lajoie never won in the three national series of Nascar, where he made his debut in 2013 with an XFINITY Series departure. He has spent the past eight years in Cup Series, the last four with Spire Motorsports. He finished four times among the first five with Spire, but never finished higher than 25th in the Cup classification.
