US Open: Novak Djokovic begins the defense of the title with a dominant victory while he looks at the 25th Grand Colem Championship

The quest for Novak Djokovic for a historic title of the 25th Grand Chelem is underway.

Djokovic crossed his opening match at the US Open on Monday evening. He beat Radu Albot of Moldova in right sets at the Arthur Ashe stadium in New York, 6-2, 6-2, 6-4. He marked his 71st consecutive victory in the first round during a major championship, and pushed him to 18-0 in the first round at the US Open in his career.

Djokovic, who won the US Open title last year, resumed where he stopped after his Gold Medal Victory at the Paris Olympic Games in 2024 – which, according to him, was the biggest achievement that ‘He had in his career and officially completed the Golden Slam. Djokovic won four consecutive games to close his first set, then did the same thing in the second to finish that went without any problems.

Although it is not as fast – Albor jumped 3-2 in the third set after a battle for the point of the third match – Djokovic has made its way through the sixth and seventh games of the set to resume the Moving and finally take victory in just over two hours.

Djokovic, who lost in the semi-finals of the Australian Open to start the year, withdrew from the French Open with a meniscus torn to the right knee in the quarter-finals. Although it still has a long way to go, a victory at the US Open would end a historic year for the Serbian star. He would mark his 25th Title du Grand Chelem, which would extend his lead in the race and add to his list of distinctions. This would also break his tie with Margaret short and make him the most decorated tennis player of all times.

Djokovic will now face his Serbian compatriot Laslo Djere in the second round. Djere defeated the Struff of Jan-Lennard in Germany in a battle of five sets in his opening match on Monday evening.
